RAMS all-star new recruit
The Sydney RAMS gay and lesbian ten pin bowling club made a very respectable showing at the Australian National Ten Pin Bowling Championships, held at the Rooty Hill AMF.
The RAMS have in their midst a star performer in Max Wongcharoen, who won the national Men’s Restricted Masters event, scored several medals and even made the Australian All Stars team.
While it’s an impressive showing, for those not well-versed in ten pin bowling, it may not mean a great deal. Wongcharoen admitted to Sydney Star Observer that even he wasn’t quite sure what all of his accolades entailed.
“I’m not quite sure what it means to be an ‘All Star’ – when I got the award I said ‘what’s that?’” he laughed.
“I think it’s just a title, I’m not too sure if I have to do anything.”
The self-effacing bowler, who only joined RAMS two months ago, confessed that he thought he’d “gone really crap” in the qualifying round. Is he a bit of a hero amongst his fellow RAMS players?
“I’m not sure, I hope so! They were shocked that I’d placed so well, and I was shocked myself too.
“I aimed high but I didn’t think I’d do so well.”
