Rising over but clubbers on the Up

Early-morning clubbers institution Rising finished after four years last weekend, but in its place come new regular parties – one being Up, an appropriately-named new event for revellers still awake in the wee hours of Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The brainchild of Randel Morris, Up will run every second weekend, with launch parties on October 22 and 23 at Phoenix on Oxford St.

“Rising was an institution, and it was hard for us to say goodbye to it. But we love our family who spend time with us each week, and we couldn’t just leave them without anything,” Morris said.

“To launch Up, we wanted to give our family a special experience to let them know that even though there are changes, it’s still the same old home. In doing so, we’re going to spoil our family with our first international guests — DJ Rado and John Demetriou.”

Mykonos-based Demetriou will play at the inaugural Up from 5am on October 22, alongside Luke Leal. The following morning at Up’s official launch and Big Exile recovery party, European DJ Rado will play alongside Keenan and Anthony Whitlock.

As the official recovery party for Big Exile, Morris and Toro Productions Sydney are offering Big Exile ticketholders free entry into the event. Entry on the door for others is $15.

After this launch weekend, Up will return on the weekend of November 5 – 6.
