The Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service and Twenty10 GLBT Youth Support will appoint a Volunteer and Community Education Officer.

The new role will be responsible for volunteer recruitment and training for both organisations as well as conducting training and education to build the capacity of both the general community and community sector organisations to respond effectively and appropriately to GLBT communities.

By combining our resources for this role, we believe we will find a talented education practitioner who is passionate about building inclusive and supportive communities, Twenty10 executive officer Meredith Turnbull said.

The creation of this new role signals a brighter future ahead and further develops the partnership between GLCS and Twenty10. A joint administrative assistant role was created to streamline the administrative work of the Bedford St premises shared by the two agencies.

Our partnership with GLCS is very valuable -¦ the stakeholders and members of our organisations are pleased to see us developing new ways to ensure our vital services will continue serving our communities well into the future, Turnbull said.

Well-trained and supported volunteers are crucial to the work of both GLCS and Twenty10. Combining our volunteer programs avoids duplication of services and creates really interesting and engaging opportunities for volunteers to work in both organisations, GLCS co-president Tim Errington said.
