Searching for a Star volunteer

Searching for a Star volunteer

THE Star Observer (SO) is searching for a volunteer coordinator to help the publication grow.

SO, established in 1979, is the longest running and most respected media organisation in the LGBTI community in Australia.

The role will entail helping coordinate the needs of special events, editorial projects, historical archiving, operations and other activities.

Examples of the work include archiving historical collections, staffing community events like the Mardi Gras and Fair Day Stall, and producing content to support major editorial features.

The Volunteer Coordinator will regularly meet with SO board members and staff to help plan and deliver a series of projects throughout the year.

They will generate volunteering opportunities, recruit, organise rosters and train volunteers, among other duties.

This role is suited for someone who wants to give some of their time and energies to the LGBTI community and/or has a strong interest in volunteering and event coordination.

This is a volunteer, flexible time role, on average one day a week but with scope to increase around peak event organisation times.

Please contact Daniel Bone for a confidential discussion by emailing [email protected] with a short cover letter outlining your volunteering experience.
