Softball season almost here

Registration is now open for the Sydney Outfielders softball team’s summer league.
The season begins on October 20 and runs until March, ending just before Mardi Gras.
The Outfielders will hold pre-season friendly social hits on October 11 and 18, which will also give members the opportunity to register for the season.
“The social hits are a great opportunity to try out the sport, and a wonderful way of honing your skills for the season,” Outfielders president Jappe Wouters said.
“Seasoned players will be on hand to give pointers, and it’s a great opportunity to meet other members of the league.
“The elected committee is working hard on preparations for the season, which include establishing the calendar, launch of a new website, preparing for social hits, purchasing equipment and gear for the season and planning some of our social activities.”
Last season was considered a great success, with an equal number of men and women playing and even a heterosexual team joining the league.
The Outfielders had a successful run at the World Outgames in Copenhagen, coming home with a gold medal.
The summer league is one of the largest GLBT sporting leagues in Australia, with around 165 registered players playing in 11 teams.
