Argonauts’ apprentices

The Melbourne Argonauts will hold their final learn-to-row program for the year over the weekend of October 22 – 23.

Participants will be trained by fully accredited coaches who will teach the basic skills of rowing.

On Saturday, participants will train indoors while they learn the terminology and master the basic movements needed for the open water. On the second day, they will be let loose on Albert Park Lake.

At the end of the weekend, participants will receive a four-week training membership which will entitle them to an evening training session once a week, as well as one Saturday social session.

The training weekend costs $150. Places are limited.

The Argonauts were formed in 2001. The team has competed in the Montreal and Copenhagen Outgames and the Chicago Gay Games.

The main aim is not to win trophies. The Argonauts simply wish to be a “rowing club in the queer community and a queer club in the rowing community”.
