Australia’s marching gay and lesbian lifesavers, the LifeSavers with Pride, are getting ready for their fifth performance in the Mardi Gras parade, and they want you to join them. Gay or straight, as long as you’re a surf lifesaver, you’re welcome to flaunt your bronzed body in the parade.

It’s an opportunity to join an award-winning group, with the Lifesavers winning awards for Sexiest Float (2007), Best Choreography (2009 and the prestigious Judges Choice Award in 2010.

With choreography led by Laurence Stark (professional dancer and former backing dancer to Kylie Minogue, Vanessa Amorosi and Human Nature), rehearsals commence in Bondi Beach in February 2011.

Even interstate participants can take part, keeping up to date on rehearsals by checking in on the Lifesavers With Pride blog before they arrive in Sydney.
