Rangers win one, draw another
Sydney Rangers Football Club had a good weekend card of games against teams from the Canterbury District Soccer Football Association on Saturday, winning one and drawing another.
At Wentworth Park in Ultimo the Rangers A team beat a team from the Belmore Eagles FC 4-2 despite some fierce opposition.
The Rangers’ Pierre scored the first goal of the match in the first two minutes with a 40-yard screamer which took Belmore’s goalie by surprise. The Rangers seized on that momentum to dominate much of the first half of the game.
Pierre scored a second goal before half-time, bringing the teams level. Rangers Jack and Victor scored goals in the second half.
Meanwhile, the Rangers B team displayed some improving form at Blick Oval in Ashbury against a team from Hurlstone Park Wanderers FC, drawing one-all after losing two previous matches.
Hurlstone Park took the first goal but the Rangers B went on the offensive and rallied to score a goal in the second half.
In their next matches, the Rangers A team will go up against a team from Enfield Rovers FC at Pratten Park, Ashfield while the Rangers B team will take on Belmore Eagles FC at Birchgrove Oval in Birchgrove.
