If the Olympics inspire you to get out on the water, the Melbourne Argonauts are offering introductory rowing lessons on August 18-19.

Melbourne’s queer rowing club will be holding a series of Learn to Row programs for new rowers ahead of the 2013 competitive summer season.

While the Argonauts encourage beginners to have a go, the club has been competitive and won several medals at the recent state and Australian Masters championships, including two gold medals.

“We have a big calendar of rowing events coming up next year,” Argonauts president Tim Hewitson said.

The Argonauts are also preparing for the World Outgames in August next year in Antwerp, Belgium.

“It’s not only a great goal for those of us who are club members but also people interested in doing our Learn to Row programs in the next couple of months could feasibly aim to compete at Antwerp,” Hewitson said.
