My birth name is Edward Alimin but I am also known as Ana Ivanovic. I’m 29 years old and I work in the aged care industry. I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and began to pick up a racquet and a ball when I was 14.
What gay and lesbian sporting clubs are you a member of and how long have you been with them?
I’ve been a member of Tennis Sydney for more than seven years.
When did you get involved in the club and why?
I got involved in 2002 and have met so many incredible, outgoing, spunky guys since I joined.
Who would you consider a role model in sport? Why?
Rafael Nadal. He’s a talented, creative, down-to-earth, beautiful tennis player (just look at his biceps).
What is your greatest sporting moment? Why?
Defeating my good friend/ biggest rival (Ryan Chan) in a singles match. He’s one of the best athletes in Tennis Sydney and you have to earn every point to beat his game in a singles match.
What music do you listen to while training?
None, no time for music.
What motivates you to keep going?
Simple ‘C’mon’ with a single fist to the air.
Are you single or in a relationship?
Single, recently had my heart broken.
How old were you when you began playing sport? Were you openly gay at this time?
No, but I knew I wanted to play like Monica Seles.
Who is your biggest sports fan? How do they show their support for you?
Ana Ivanovic. She’s beautiful, talented, determined and no matter what people say about her, she had the taste of being world number one in women’s tennis, winning the French Open at 21,and now she’s dating the hottest golf player on the circuit, Adam Scott.
What is your most embarrassing sports moment?
Too many to mention.
What would you do without your sport?
Go to more movies.
Would you switch to another sport?
Tennis is a gift from God. I would not switch tennis for any other sport.

Almost sleeping with the previous president of Tennis Sydney.
How would you get readers interested in your sport?
Tempt them with potential friends.
What is the best thing about your sports club?
Seeing lust develop off the court.
