NEW York Magazine’s pop music critic Jody Rosen recently across a unique find while helping a friend move.

In what was described a a “priceless period piece”, Rosen uncovered a document from the University of Wisconsin–Madison USA, circa 1988, that listed fifteen tips for When You Meet A Lesbian: Hints for the Heterosexual Woman.

Below is an embedded image of the document that lists all the “tips” for straight women for when they encounter lesbians.

While clearly outdated in today’s modern standards, the document ends with the women’s studies class asked to “experiment” what it is like to be a lesbian: “Pretend to be a lesbian for 24 hours. What kinds of things do you notice about how different this feels?”
