Melbourne four-piece The Nymphs have gained a strong gay following thanks to their appearance at this year’s Midsumma festival. Now comes their debut EP and, as you’d expect if you’ve seen them live, it’s a largely a cappella affair, with few instrumental flourishes added to their crystalline harmonies. While the sound harks back to an earlier era, the subject matter is thoroughly modern. We’re not sure if My Deadly Rabbits is the first song to detail a fight with a local council about the legality of rabbit ownership, but it’s definitely the best.
