At age 73, queen of rockabilly Wanda Jackson here gets the same career-revitalising treatment from Jack White that the ex-White Stripes frontman delivered for Loretta Lynn on her flawless Van Lear Rose. Jackson’s effort is more hit and miss than Lynn’s, thanks to some less-than-stellar song choices — her cover of Amy Winehouse’s You Know I’m No Good veers dangerously close to novelty song territory. Still, on songs like Nervous Breakdown and the frantic Rip It Up, Jackson’s voice is as rocking as it was on her earliest 1950s hits.
