Tragedy mars gay cruise

Mystery surrounds an incident on an Atlantis gay cruise in which an Irish passenger went overboard.

The 30-year-old man, identified as Kenneth John Gemmell, was seen falling from the ship by another passenger while off the coast of Mexico in the Caribbean.

In a statement, Royal Caribbean indicated that Gemmell was seen going overboard on Friday, February 3 at 7.10am local time. The incident was confirmed by surveillance cameras aboard the ship.

Gemmell’s family said they want nothing more than to understand what may have driven their son to take his own life. They appealed to anyone
on board the ship who might have met him during the cruise to touch base with them.

Gemmell, a flight attendant for a UAE airline based in Dubai, may have been arguing with a ship’s crew member in one of the bars late Thursday night or early Friday morning, according to an eyewitness.
