Vic MP asks for marriage views

Chisholm MP Anna Burke is calling for constituents to make their views known on same-sex marriage.

The Waverly Leader reported today that less than one percent of the Victorian electorate’s 86,000 constituents had responded to Burke’s online survey.

So far the poll has recorded 335 people against same-sex marriage and 233 votes for.

Burke told the newspaper, if the issue came before parliament, she would vote in line with the majority views of her electorate if more people share their opinion.

The seat of Chisholm takes in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne including Box Hill, Oakleigh, Clayton, Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Mont Albert, Burwood and Chadstone.
