SLPA: leather is a living organism

SLPA: leather is a living organism

I often get asked when I am out in my leathers, why? At the moment I don’t ride a bike and I am quite often the only one in leather so I tend to stand out.

The answer is quite frankly leather represents a significant lifetime investment and needs to be worn and cared for as if it is a living organism so that it will last.

It won’t last you if you hide it away in your attic or it’s left hanging in your wardrobe. It is important to wear it, sweat in it, and get some of those fun bodily juices on it. The sweat from your body will nourish the leather and keep it soft and supple for years.

After it has had an outing it is important to care for it as well: allowing it to dry before  hanging it away, use a soft brush or cloth to remove any dirt that you may have picked up in your adventure and every so often use a leather cleaner on it to bring back its lustre.

There are now a few nights a month that will let your leather get a showing. One is SLPA Dog Tag that has now moved to the Oxford Hotel on the second Friday of the month. A great mix of friendly leather people all there for one thing their love of fetishism, it is also a great place to pick up a bit of rough and get those all important juices all over your kit.

We live in a city of nearly 5,000 pervy people registered on “Recon” but rarely see them actually out. It is high time that we start to get out our kit and wear it again with pride in public and start to pull together as one fetish community of pervy fun loving people. We may no longer have a leather bar but we still have each other.

Forever in Fetish,
