Clear your diary

This year I started working with the Victorian AIDS Council (VAC). I look after all things related to fundraising, with a huge focus on AIDS Awareness Week (November 27 – December 2) and World AIDS Day (December 1).

I’ll be joining you once a month right here in Southern Star to let you know what the VAC is up to and how you can get involved, either as a punter or as a volunteer.

There will be many events during AIDS Awareness Week: the Elizabeth Taylor Exhibition (November 26 – 27 at the Melbourne Town Hall), World AIDS Day Gala (November 27 at the GH, St Kilda), Memorial Service (December 1 at the Positive Living Centre, South Yarra) and the JOY94.9 outside broadcast at Federation Square on December 1. Stay tuned for more events to come!

There are also plenty of opportunities to get involved as a volunteer. We are looking for community groups and keen individuals to hand out red ribbons in the CBD on World AIDS Day. Two hours of your time is all it takes to raise awareness and funds for people living with HIV/AIDS.

If you can help out on World AIDS Day, please use the contact email address below.

Did I mention lights? The VAC is painting the town red to get our message out there: Inform Yourself, Educate Others. Look out for the illumination of AAMI Park, the Arts
Centre spire and many more iconic Melbourne landmarks.
