The Newcastle University Queer Collective is organising events for Wear It Purple Day, Friday, September 2, in support of LGBT young people. You don’t have to attend an event to support Wear It Purple, you just need to wear the colour purple on September 2. For more info, visit www.wearitpurple.org

The Loft Youth Venue and ACON Hunter are meeting with GLBT young people to discuss social and support needs of LGBT young people in the Newcastle/Hunter area. If you are interested in attending, contact Lisa at ACON Hunter on 02 4927 6808.

Out N Hastings organise regular GLBT social events on the Mid North Coast. This Saturday, August 27, is a LGBT dance, 7pm till late at the Dolphin Lounge in the Westport Club. Tickets are $20/$18 concession. Email [email protected] for more info.

Rainbow Visions has released info about some of the events for the 2011 Rainbow Festival, October 22 to November 6. The Rainbow Picnic kicks off the festival on Sunday, October 23. There will also be a comedy night, women’s dance, men’s barefoot bowls, Short & Curlies Film Festival, Queer Colloquium and a not-to-be missed trivia night hosted by the amazing Vanessa Wagner.
