A busy month

A busy month

If you were expecting a slow month as everyone tries to wind down after Mardi Gras, you will hopefully be pleasantly surprised and find the energy to attend some of the various goings-on around the Illawarra.

Bingay is coming to Wollongong! To celebrate Diversity week at the University of Wollongong, Bingay will be heading to the Unibar on Monday 23 March.  The night kicks off at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the Unishop: (02) 4221 8065 or bigtix.com.au. Grab some friends and join in the fun.

While at Bingay you might also chat to some of the Allsorts Queer Collective about what they have lined up for the year.

There is a great month of activities for under-18s as well, with Young And Proud meeting on Thursday 19 March, at ACON Illawarra Community Space from 5-7pm.  Spectrum Youth, a young GLBT social advocacy group will meet on Wednesday March 25 from 4-5.30pm. Both groups have fortnightly meetings and are a great way to meet new friends, get some information and get involved in local activities.

Rock in the Park, an annual Kiama youth concert raising awareness around sexual health, is also coming up on Saturday March 28. Head to Kiama, listen to the free live entertainment and look for the walking condoms.

To round out your Saturday, you can head back to Wollongong for the first UNITY Dance party of 2009. Also on March 28, this event will kick off around 8pm and should be a great night out. The theme for this party is -˜Bunker’, so get out your camouflage and head to Beaton Park Tennis Club. Cost is $10 for non-members. Contact the ACON Illawarra office for more info.

info: If you require any additional information about groups, services or organisations in the Southern Region you can contact ACON on 4226 1163 or email [email protected]
