Beat winter chills

Beat the winter chill with a diverse calendar of events for all communities across our region. Some may even entice adventurers from other communities to step outside their square and hit the highway to experience new social options.

Have your senses teased and pleased at the Newcastle Fetish Ball, Friday 29 May, the Gateway Hotel in Islington. Rubber, whips and all things kink come out to play from 10pm. Hosted by Mr and Mrs White Trash the ball features fetish displays, the crowning of the king and queen of fetish, DJ Maynard and DJ Charlton with shows by Chanel, Kitty Hairy Hole and the Old Divas. This is a fundraiser for Karumah PLC and tickets $15 (a free middy of beer or soft drink included) are available from the Gateway Hotel pre-sale or at the door.

Vanessa Wagner and Nurse Nancy return to Newcastle with their unique humour to host Chinwag -” a -˜chat show’ about HIV treatments and healthy HIV living, Wednesday 3 June at the Gateway. Free buffet and drinks served at 6.30pm, show starts 7pm. People with HIV, their partners, families, friends and service providers are welcome. RSVPs essential by Wednesday 27 May. Tickets are available from ACON for Newcastle’s 2009 GLBT Ball, Cirque De So Gay at the Newcastle Town Hall, on Saturday 22 August. It sells out every year, so be quick to secure your seat or table of eleven. Tickets are $100 (and a limited number of $70 concession) and include three-course meal with table wine, special guest Julia Morris, and more entertainment and prizes.

The Men In the Middle weekend workshop for gay and bisexual men will be held in Tamworth on 13 and 14 June. Issues covered include gay social life, relationships, identity, self-confidence, HIV, and sexual health. This workshop is limited to 15 participants.
