Q and A with Maxi

Patrons often bark questions at me over loud music and they are kinda pissed off when I can’t answer them.
The first question is, “When is the Imperial opening?” I have no idea! I only have secondhand information, much the same as the general public. I usually just tell people to ask Mitzi!
Which leads me to the next question, “When is Mitzi leaving for the UK and is she ever coming back?” Mitzi is heading off to the UK with husband to start a fresh new life (they sound like explorers). Her farewell has been longer than a Cher concert. It seems we have been saying goodbye to the old bird for years, but the end is near. In just a week we will see a huge celebrity roast, with the cream of Sydney’s talent letting Mitzi know what they think of her.
Tora Hymen will take over for Mitzi at Bingay, but I have no information on who is replacing the Old Girl in her other gigs.
Another question that frequently pops up is, “What’s Vanity Faire doing now?”
Vanity has been working on Priscilla: The Musical for many years, starting in Sydney.  She is a part of the set-up group which travels the world to get the show going, then off to the next destination.
She has been promoted to being in charge of the wigs and makeup for the London version, which means working closely with all leads, including the once love of my life, Jason Donovan. I frequently get a message at 4am, “Just off to Jason’s house to have dinner with him and the family”.
Vanity is also helping with the wigs for the upcoming production of Holding the Man, which is a personal delight for me, not only because it is such an amazing play but it is starring Jane Turner.
There is talk that Priscilla will head to Broadway, and I expect Vanity will also head there, but nothing is concrete yet. Oh … Vanity is sharing a home with DIVA legend Ashley Swift, and they both can be seen around London from time to time.
Now for something small — I don’t mind if you ask me about another drag queen. I know most of the showgirls around town and if they are your mates and you are truly looking for them, I will direct you.
But if you are going to proceed to tell me they are the best drag queens in Sydney and rabbit on about them for 10 minutes, please don’t look so confused when I tell you to PISS OFF. Not that I want you to talk about me, but there is a line.
