Sausages for all

Sausages for all

Last week ACON got a taste of the West. The Parramatta Pride Picnic was peaceful and the openness was aplenty.

From the drag queens to the kids and dogs, there were enough sausages for everyone.

It was a great day of entertainment with the Homotones and sports activities all beside the river in Parramatta Park.

There was such an awesome feeling of community at the picnic, it was just like Fair Day but set in the peaceful west — lovely.

One of the groups that had a stall was Come Out, www.comeout.org.au They meet in Penrith, Parramatta, Canterbury/Bankstown and have groups in the Illawarra, Southern Sydney and Central West NSW. Come Out can be contacted by phone on 9773 0414 or 0439 730 414.

It would be great to see you at the picnic next year because a tug-of-war between the police, drag queens, butches and kids is a sight to behold and not to be missed.

ACON has provided services to the GLBT community for more than two decades, including counselling, housing, lesbian health work, support and education groups for young people and people experiencing homophobic or same-sex domestic violence. And of course from the very beginning ACON has provided specialist services for people with HIV.

ACON turns 25 this year and is seeking support from our LGBT family, friends and community to help us help others through the 25for5 Campaign where a donation of just $25 can help one of five projects. To make a donation, visit http://www.acon.org.au/donate
