It’s hard to believe that it’s only a few weeks to go until Sleaze Ball rolls around again. This year with the title of Villain’s Lair it’s sure to be as popular as ever. It’ll be a big weekend what with all the other parties happening, including a sold-out Frisky.

That said, it is once again time to look at how you can best prepare for the long weekend ahead. Along with the usual alcohol and other drug messages it is also important to think about safe sex.

With a range of drugs available that increase sexual desire and also often affect judgment and pharmaceutical products such as Viagra and Cialis available to help you perform on call, the potential for unsafe sex is there.

We continue to see some men who use crystal not only to party but to have sex for many hours at a time. Others are unable to get a hard-on when they use the drug and as a result Viagra is often used. Be aware of the risks of long periods of drug-fuelled sex and be prepared.

Another problem that many partygoers will experience is the almost inevitable comedown. As the old saying goes, what goes up must come down. Unfortunately, many people are not prepared for eccy Tuesday and can find the week following a major party particularly distressing.

The use of crystal, acknowledged for its crash following its use, may make things seem even worse. Anyone who has used crystal will tell you that the lows with this drug appear almost bottomless. If anyone is considering using this drug they should be well aware of the effect that this drug can have on mood.

Hopefully, you plan for your comedown. As part of your party planning, always think about what is about to come after you’ve stopped partying.

Try to make sure that the coming couple of weeks are relatively stress-free. Never make life-altering decisions in this time and do your best not to be alone. If you know someone who looks like being by themselves, organise to spend some time with them.

Simple things like going out for a coffee or watching a video with someone can make the comedown time so much more bearable.

Remember: if you do not want any negative consequences, do not use the drug and, no matter how many times you have used a substance, never be blase.
