To the mountains

To the mountains

Can you believe that it is already that time of the year again when all the homos head to the Blue Mountains, to enjoy the festivities of the Three Sisters Social Group over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. Will you be there to keep me warm?

From art exhibitions to talent quests and the Wild Wild West glamour ball, what more could a sister desire besides some long weekend trade? A glass of rum and a heater to avoid the shrunken balls!

Bent Art’s fifth annual GLBT art exhibition will be running all weekend from Friday 5 June at the Katoomba Civic Centre. If you’re really lucky they might feature the erotic photography I submitted to them via SMS-¦ I am not sure whether my Nokia phone photography will be classified as art though-¦ especially since they were all taken in the back seat of my car!

The disco on Saturday night 6 June is set to be a night to remember -“ especially since I will not be the host due to budget cuts -“ damn the recession! This year’s host has offered to do it for nothing -“ and it’s not even for a charity! The talent quest is looking a little shaky -“ or is that the contestants in their heels? Either way, there will no doubt be entertainment to amuse you all!

And lastly the Wild Wild West glamour ball on Sunday night 7 June at $120 a pop -“ I won’t bother telling you about it -“ because it’s already SOLD OUT! So start saving those dollars for next year.

If you want a night out following the long weekend, come to Heaven on Saturday June 20 at the Northmead Bowling Club and help raise money for the Western Suburbs Haven plus celebrate our second birthday. The night will be filled with three big shows and 11 drag queens -“ so come along and help raise money for this valuable charity. Entry is $10 and all funds taken on the door will go directly to the Western Suburbs Haven.

Queer Out West has decided to put out the call for a new on-air presenter. They are looking for some new and fresh talent to delight the listeners of western Sydney. If you are interested in committing your time to the show on Monday nights with the team at the Liverpool studio, and you believe you have something you can contribute, please email the producer, Paul, on [email protected].

Drag Gossip: Do you have talent? Do you live in Western Sydney? Do you think you can learn a routine? Well! Due to my old age and inability to tell left from right, we are looking for someone to replace me in the production shows at Heaven. I have decided to focus my time and energy on being MC and hostess for the night. If you are interested, please email [email protected] and let’s see if you’re a fit-¦ no pun intended.

Until next time gorgeous!

  1. I got my pose together for the ball this year, and like last year we had an absolute blast! The dance at Blackheath was as camp and cooky as ever, ran into many old faces and made some new friends as well ;-)
the next nite at the Ball was just as sensational even though the food was a little less than ordinary… of course in true poof and dyke fashion, smuggled drinks soon started appearing and people really started enjoying themselves!!!

    An absolute must!!!!
