Western Sydney comes together

It’s that time of year again when I get more excited than getting a new Grindr message — it’s Heaven Social Dance’s fifth birthday! Who would have thought we would have lasted five years? How quickly time flies!

From our birth at Parramatta and three venue changes later, Heaven celebrates once again by giving back to the community.

This year, at our annual charity night/fifth birthday, we have a huge collaboration of entertainment lined up. From drag queens to kings, live singers to dance troupes, 21 acts all up over three shows with three fabulous hosts, this is sure to be our biggest yet!

Over the years, Heaven has raised more than $7500 for the Western Suburbs Haven and ACON Western Sydney, both registered charities doing great work in the western suburbs. Hopefully we can get that figure up to $10,000 this year with your support.

So come along to the Northmead Bowling Club on June 30 from 8.30pm. $15 entry on the door with all proceeds going to ACON West.

It’s amazing how successful dances in the west are becoming with your support. Just last month Kaleidoscope celebrated its second birthday and is back again and has brought the silly season with it.

Kaleidoscope will host Christmas in July on Saturday, July 7 at the Parramatta Golf Club, starring the jolly Sandy Bottom and her elves Lola Del Arte and Josephine Liqueur along with the girls from J&L Dance Company. Maybe if you’re lucky I’ll dress up as Santa and you can sit on my lap!

I hope the night won’t be as cold as my long weekend away in the mountains.

Oh, how eventful that weekend was! I dragged my darling daughter Lola along for the joyride, arriving at our 1/2 star hotel which came complete with moist carpet, then headed off to host the
Three Sisters Annual Disco/Talent Quest.

The rest of the weekend we checked out the bentART exhibition, wandered around Katoomba, had dinners with great new friends and ended the weekend with a scenic tour with Sandy Bottom trekking through the rainforest in all her gayety.

Western Sydney’s going off with Richards on the Park at Canley Vale now being host to two fabulous events. ‘It’s Showtime’ is on the third Saturday of every month (July 21, August 18, etc).
It’s hosted by me and Prada Clutch with monthly special guests.

Plus every Wednesday night you can now head along to ‘Prada’s Raunchy Richard’s Bingo!’ Opening night is Wednesday, June 20, 7pm. It’s going to be bingo with a whole lot of raunchy fun!

On a last note, Wollongong shines with Pride on Saturday, June 23 as it hosts its first Leather Pride party hosted by local diva Dee Dee Lamar, invaded by your favourite westies Lola Del Arte and me with a special guest appearance by So You Think You Can Dance’s Rhys Bobridge coming up from Melbourne to add some southern spice for what is sure to be one hell of a night! There’s a prize pack from Adult Temptations for the best dressed leather-clad person on the night! Now, where’s my leather bikini…?

It’s $10 entry, Castro’s Nightclub, 5 Victoria St, Wollongong.

Until next time, gorgeous! BB XXX
