Southern Comfort

Hume Phoenix is a social support group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTIQ) people and their family and friends, living in the Albury-Wodonga region. The group is described as an open community and regularly organises events to connect local people and provide a safe space, especially for those new to the LGBTIQ community.

On Saturday, October 27, Hume Phoenix will host the Beautiful Nightmare Halloween party from 8pm at One Nightclub (Level 1, Bended Elbow, 480 Dean St, Albury). If past experiences are anything to go by this will be a great night out, and everyone is welcome.

If hiking is more appealing for you, then the hike at Mount Feathertop is bound to please.  It will happen on Saturday, November 17. Remember to take your own water and don’t forget the sunscreen. For all the details on activities put on by Hume Phoenix check out the website humephoenix.com.au

Are you looking for a LGBT-friendly youth space in Nowra? If you’re under 24 and want to meet with other like-minded young people in a safe place, contact Jess at Nowra Youth Centre on (02) 4422 1988. The group meets every second Thursday.

In the lead up to World AIDS Day, local communities have again organised for the Wollongong Light House to go red. On Friday, November 2 the staff from the HIV and Related Programs team will have a stall at the International food markets (night market) located at Flagstaff hill. Come on down and show your support.  More details on all the events and activities associated with World AIDS Day will be available on the night.
