We want you

We want you

Hello! Is it me you’re looking for?

I hope so. We’re certainly looking for you. World AIDS Day is fast approaching and I hope by now you’ve heard some of the ads on JOY 94.9. Or maybe you’ve seen one of our glossy pics in the pages of Southern Star.

If not, they’re letting you know all about our need for volunteers on December 1 in and around the CBD. We are looking for people to give us just two hours of their time to hand out red ribbons.

If you feel you can manage a couple of hours during what is normally a terribly tiresome Thursday, then get in touch with Shane or me at the Victorian AIDS Council/ Gay Men’s Health Centre (VAC/GMHC) on 03 9865 6700.

I thought I’d let you know a few of the World AIDS Day events we have planned.

World AIDS Day launch, November 25
The GH
We will be at The GH collecting money for World AIDS Day. We will also be launching the new Drama Downunder campaign in the front bar and then you can join the cast of Boylesque and Paris for an evening not to be missed. It will be a great night out and also a great opportunity to help VAC/GMHC.

World AIDS Day December 1

3pm, Federation Square
We would love to invite you all to join us in Fed Square to commemorate World AIDS Day. We will be taking over the main stage area with various community groups and volunteers all invited to attend. The Victorian Police Showband will provide entertainment and it’ll be a great lead-in to the outside broadcast with JOY 94.9 at 4pm.
Outside broadcast, December 1

4-7pm, Federation Square

The VAC/GMHC and JOY 94.9 will broadcast live from the main stage and we would love you to join in the fun. There will be some amazing guests and performers to keep you well and truly entertained.
Memorial Service, December 1
Doors open from 5pm, service commences at 6.30pm

Positive Living Centre, Commercial Rd, South Yarra
The Memorial Service at the Positive Living Centre is held every year and everyone is welcome. This year’s event features VAC/GMHC ambassador Rachel Berger. The event MC is my good friend Luke Gallagher and special guests include Jon Jackson, Jade Leonard and the Gay and Lesbian Chorus.
Hope to see you at one or all of the events.
