Wil’s go at pop glory

Wil’s go at pop glory

He’s well known on Sydney’s gay scene as a dancer for pop singers like Paulini and the like, and now Wil Sabin’s stepping into the limelight with his debut single, Wear Me Out. The song is an ultra-sleazy electro-house track that owes quite a debt to Swedish House Mafia’s Miami 2 Ibiza in both production and lyrical content.

It’s made for divisive viewing on YouTube, where it’s already clocked up almost 30,000 views. Check it out below and let us know what you think.

  1. i happen to know that Wil does a lot of charity work for ‘it gets better’ and have seen him on many occasions rase money for good causes!

this sounds like a bitter drag queen thread.. haters

why dont you post your work on the internet and see if everyone thinks you’re all amazing?

great first video Wil. it’s really high quality and off to brilliant start my friend!

  2. I think you all are going way too far to make a point! if you dont like the video then why not leave it be…? you obviously have too much time on your hands!

of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but ya’ll being nasty!

I personally really like this video and song, if you listen to the actual lyrics it’s gay centric and it’s just a fun party scene. I’m all you are familiar with, given the club references you all mention above. it’s fun! you all need to chill out.

anyway Wil i really like it and good job for putting yourself out there! i look forward to more to come and would like to come to one of your shows!

    hope to meet you soon!

    Stefan

  3. All I can say is, Whats a Dancer to do eh?
People are entitled to their opinion and if they don’t like it they don’t like it. However I too believe that Karmas a bitch and had he been a little nicer and forgiving to those people he has met on on his way to the so called Top, perhaps there wouldn’t be such a mass of people ready to jump down his throat and let him have it when he puts himself out there.
Personally, I think the whole thing is very ho hum, and not worth all the attention. It going to be gone in 15mins anyway so I say good luck to him…

  4. My first impression while watching this clip was that it was very busy & there was a lot going on – blurring arm lines/fast edits/outfit changes etc. When I just listened to the song, I actually didn’t mind it. I’m fairly picky when I come to playing a male vocal in a club but I’d probably give the dub version of this a run through.
I haven’t met Will but I’ve seen him perform a few times & this track follows his performances ie: energetic & in your face.
It’s a shame that our Gay community is so quick to tear down one of their own when he takes a step in a commercial direction. To me it looks like he’s just taken what he does in the clubs & expanded it to a wider audience. Win or lose, you can’t villify him for having a go.

  5. I’m a huge fan of Will and crew and wish him all the best! There has clearly been quite an effort & thought put into the choreography and overall feel of the video, great job here, wish i could say the same for the musical style and song choice.

  6. Totally agree with Kyle…. also met him many many times around the Sydney club scene and was one of the most rudest, up himself, im the top shit dont talk to me people i have met.
unfortunately for Will its his attitude and the way he has fronted himself on the Sydney gay scene for so long that will bring him a complete backlash (not by all)

  7. how truly, truly awful.

    how did anyone produce this?

As for Ash… well i’m with everyone who’s responded here. No one has said they could do a better job, it’s just been said that Will shouldn’t have inflicted such autotuned, painful trash on us.

excuse me, i;m going to throw up now.

That said, at least he’s been true to himself by delivering such shallow, awful, self absorbed crap.

  8. Hmmmmm So You Think You Can Dance & Sing….its entertaining thats for sure as I was laughing the whole way through it….still am…!!

  9. Hang about, he’s doing what every other chart topper is at the moment, he’s having a red hot crack at a club track.

    Good on him!

Haters gonna hate and it shows that gays are just horrible to each other. Shame haters Shame,

  10. Oh. My. God. First of all somebody please find him a shirt. Secondly, I hate to be negative and nasty but you cannot deny it… this is awful. Plain awful.

  11. kudos to wil for having the balls to do this, its not my taste at all, but think it brave of him to make the clip if its what he has wanted to do, i dont think another will be made, as people are vicious and cruel and shall continue to be so no matter what ! i hope he has thick enough skin to take the negative feedback, its enough to destroy your spirit!
if i was in Wil’s shoes and hoped for public feedback id hope to see some sort of nice comment from someone who didnt like the clip !

so Wil maybe best if you didnt do another ! im not perfect no ones perfect just keep your head up buddy and roll with the punches! :)

  12. OMG! Well, where to start? I’m all for encouraging new artist especially gay artist but I have to say this is just embarresing to watch. Not only for it’s narssistic faux hetrosexual, egomaniacal aspects, but also for the absolute lack of any lyrical integrity.
Now, there have been a comment or two in favour of Wil’s “Werq” but I think the main thing to remember here is that Wil is known by many of us and if you are going to prance around like a precious little show pony who is rude and be a bitchy little (no pun intended) queen then of course you are going to be slagged by the people who experiance him.

I say good luck to him, kudos for putting something together but in the face of your public who you’ve diss’d and scowled at he’s not going to get much support and that is quite evident..

If I was to score it I would give it a 4 for video production but his talent needs more WERQ!!

  13. LMFAO…..! What a load of SHIT….!!
Auto tuned too max & what a horrible voice…
This guy “seems to be so full of himself” & what for? Maybe Will should keep to the dancing in very dark clubs..
What rubbish…but thanks so much for the laugh. “Priceless”

  14. bahahahaha…. watching this has worn me out……. this has got to be a joke right??

  15. Couldn’t stop laughing, I assume this is a piss-take? At 2:27 (the belly jiggle) I literally fell of my chair. Well done – made my day!

  16. In reply to Ash: Like you, we are all allowed opinions, & we all dont have to agree, which is totally fine, either way I dont need to prove myself to have an opinion, you can like it or hate it.

Just because I am not making bad music & a narcissistic video does not mean I have no talent, we all have talents. I dont need an audience to feel validated, I choose to put my talent into helping people have better lives. This crap that Wil is putting out, just highlights how shallow, narcissistic & conceited the gay scene can be (not everyone of course)

Wil is not promoting any positive message at all. Have you really listened to the lyrics? So bad! I have met Wil many times, I found him rude, disrespectful & very narcissistic, so it was no surprise to see him do a video & song like this. I really hope he stops hear & makes no more of this embarrassing crap, also! Wil can not sing, even a deaf person could hear that. Someone please tell him to stop! :)

  17. Ash, the reason I dont “get up off (my) keister and do the exact same thing?” is because I shouldn’t – I do’nt have the talent. And in my humble opinion, Wil doesn’t either.

  18. OMG, that was so terrible.

He can definitely dance, but cannot sing (hence the overuse of the autotuner).

Nothing innovative or creative is being offered here. Video production is good but the faux hetero action is cringeworthy.

I totally agree with Kyle above: total narcissism. Stick to dancing in the dark clubs Wil.

  19. I love it! Great to see gay artists in the music industry. Brendan please upload your music video below so we can can all comment on yours.

  20. Hang on a minute…

To the people who have commented in this thread – why don’t you get up off your keister and do the exact same thing? You obviously think you could do a better job right? If you are quick and eager to criticize other people out there why don’t you do it yourself?

As much as I believe that everyone has different tastes, its vastly different when you start criticise someone for making and effort and believing in what they do in the first place. To those of you quick to criticise – you are only embarrassing yourself!!!!!

  21. There are no words.

I’d rather here Rebecca Black’s “Friday” in a club then that shit.

  22. Truly, truly, truly dreadful auto-tuned, hetro-centric, commercial pop – I hope I never hear this rubbish again!
