Some 25 years into her career, Deborah Conway doesn’t need to please anyone but herself. Hence this new album, recorded with her musical and life partner Zygier, includes three instrumental tracks, an epic eight-minute swampy blues song and a folk ditty sung by the couple’s three daughters. Luckily, it all makes for a cracking listen. Highlights include the bittersweet ode to domesticity Cul De Sac and the gritty girl power anthem Spoken Like A Man.
