After eight years of being with my best friend, whom I knew and was friends with for five years before we started dating, it is the most fulfilling relationship I've ever had. Whilst the BFF thing doesn't always work, those who are seriously considering it, take into account the above, but it isn't gospel. It is a risk worth taking if you are both willing to put in the hard yards to make it work. My partner and I mustn’t be the “norm” then. Im with you, the whole BBF thing never works, however, I have to say, I do notice a HUGE diference in attitude and "experience" with the whole BBF thing between my friends who live in the city and those who dont.
