Dayenu team in Sun Run

Gay and lesbian Jewish group Dayenu is participating in the SMH Sun Run from Dee Why to Manly on February 5.

The seven-kilometre Sun Run starts at 6.45am at The Strand in Dee Why and finishes on The Steyne in Manly. Dayenu has asked supporters to sponsor their runners. Funds raised will go to community care charity, JewishCare.

JewishCare was founded in 1936 to help German Jews escape the Nazis. Today the organisation provides services to the aged, people with disabilities, families and kids in crisis from both the Jewish and wider communities.

Dayenu president Roy Freeman said he was looking forward to his team’s participation in the race.
“We have a team of five of us in the run next month and we are very excited about this opportunity to raise funds for JewishCare,” Freeman said. “They do wonderful work and we hope to raise over $1800 for them.

“We’re also going to be working with JewishCare in the future to hopefully bring some support services into place for families coming to terms with family members coming out of the closet.”
