A night of tunes at Palms

A night of tunes at Palms

Music has always been in the blood for performers Hugo and Shai. The duo has been joined at the hip since meeting at an audition over four years ago.

In 2005, my guitarist decided that he wanted to form a boy-and-girl duo and asked me to help with the auditions and the first person to audition was Shai, Hugo said.

We sang a song together and found that we both had similar voices and that they complemented each other-¦ three weeks later I got a call from my guitarist and he decided he didn’t want to start the duo after all.

I called Shai and asked her to join me and we’ve been rocking and swaying our way from venue to venue since then.

Since their meeting, the pair have found a home in almost every RSL and leagues club from Rooty Hill to Bathurst. But for the next couple of months, Hugo and Shai will be the Thursday resident act at Palms on Oxford.

Hugo said they will sing a diverse range of tunes, from YMCA and Dancing Queen to I Will Survive and Love Shack.

I feel that we bring to Palms a fresh approach to entertainment… we give the audience a diverse range of songs and create a party atmosphere where the audience can interact with us, he said.

We also do character songs where we come out dressed as the artist and try to sound like them and we will be bringing that particular show to Palms at a later stage.

info: Hugo and Shai will perform at Palms on Oxford every Thursday. The first sets start at 9:30pm.
