An Arabic fusion

An Arabic fusion

Ya Leil, a dance party with an edge, will take Mardi Gras by storm this year. Created by DJ Gemma, the party celebrates the diverse and eclectic sounds of the Arab world.

It’s really important to be able to share Arabic music with our community. Music that people don’t have much opportunity to hear in a queer context. It’s about being able to have a space where this kind of music can be heard, DJ Gemma said.

Ya Leil will entice partygoers into a multi-sensory experience of Arab culture from a contemporary, local and queer perspective with visual and live performance art.

Ya Leil is a collaborative event where the music, visual and live performance art are occurring in layers that make up a rich fold of continuous experiences, she said.
The music brings a celebration with it, a celebration of life where you can’t help but feel happy.

info: Ya Leil is at the Factory Theatre on Saturday 14 February. Doors open at 10pm. Tickets $25. Bookings on www.factorytheatre.com.au or 9550 3666.
