Discover arts and antiques

If you have a passion for old wares, make sure you head down to the eighth annual AA&ADA Sydney Antiques and Fine Arts Fair from Wednesday 17 September at Wharf 8 in Barangaroo. This year, featured items include Australia’s first printed poem, a Coade stone lion, Bendigo gold, a Paul Storr shield and John Hall Thorpe woodcuts.

You won’t find anything like this in the shops. Some date back thousands of years but look as fresh as yesterday and the quality of the stock is the best that human hands can make, AA&ADA representative Paul Isbel said.

These pieces have lasted through the centuries because all along the line people have recognised their special value and have made extra efforts to preserve them. The buzz around the place is always exciting.

But the best reason for people to come along is the backing of the AA&ADA brand, which means the stock on sale has been vetted and approved by industry experts to give buyers every confidence that in their hands is the real deal, they are getting exactly what they paid for.

The theme of a voyage will shape the events direction with Vogue Living putting together their own stand to show how antiques can happily sit in a contemporary setting. The fair will continue daily until Sunday 21 September.
