Pool party with a twist

THE Manhunt Pool Party in conjunction with Melbourne’s annual Midsumma festival is on again, bringing a chunk of Melbourne’s gay community poolside to celebrate what it means to be a half-naked-man-loving homosexual in a gay pool and sauna.

On a predicted 30-degree Saturday (February 7) and with tickets at an equally-as-warm $30, it’s one of the Midsumma season’s most anticipated events. You can imagine why.

With complimentary drink on arrival — check their Facebook page for details — the crowd is set for a solid eight hours of DJs, giveaways, water, alcohol, and obviously optional clothing.

Entertainment for the day and newcomer to the scene, DJ Jason Conti, said he was looking forward to playing at the party.

“It’s such a highlight of the Midsumma calendar and I’ve got some amazing fresh tunes to kick off the day with my opening set,” he said.

Alongside shows that worship the fine art of the male swimsuit and prizes for the best wet speedo in the venue, Melbourne’s Wet on Wellington will be rolling on with its regular offerings while the likes of veteran drag queen Millie Minogue keeps entertainment fresh and lively.

“It’s always such a great crowd and these boys definitely know how to have fun,” she said.

“I’ve got some special remixes planned for my show and looking forward to adding my commentary to this year’s swimwear parade.”

Complete with grand entrances reminiscent of Cleopatra on a lilo, party-goers can expect to be in for a hilarious treat.
