The 11th Arab Film Festival will tour to Parramatta, Melbourne and Canberra, June 28 – July 15. Included in the program is the feature film Asmaa, based on a true story about an HIV patient’s struggle against social stigma in Egypt. The woman, Asmaa, is refused surgery on her gall bladder after telling doctors of her HIV infection. The story takes a complicated turn when Asmaa decides to appear on a popular TV chat show to tell her story.
