Mardi Gras announces Kiesza for Harbour Party line-up

CANADIAN singer/songwriter Kiesza has been announced as the latest international act for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival’s Harbour Party in February.

Kiesza (pictured above), whose breakthrough hit Hideaway reached number one on UK singles chart and was top 10 in Canada and on the US Billboard dance chart, will headline the iconic party with a specially-produced live performance and backing dancers.

Hideaway has also received over 150 million views on YouTube, leading Kiesza to land guest performances on the popular TV shows of Ellen, David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel.

Kiesza joins a Harbour Party lineup that includes Bimbo Jones fronted by Lee Dagger (UK), DJ Kitty Glitter (Australia), DJ Dan Murphy (Australia), and DJ Du Jour (Australia).

Harbour Party is billed as a friendly, inclusive, uplifting, boutique dance party for LGBTI people and their friends.

“Kiesza is really going to amp up Harbour Party 2015, adding a lot of high energy in her live show to an already energetic roll call of artists,” Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras chief executive Michael Rolik said.

“Harbour Party is a truly spectacular event, and a highlight of Mardi Gras every year. The 2015 edition is definitely going to be an unforgettable celebration.”

Following the last party, in which feedback from partygoers centred on the low sound levels and overly “chilled out” style of music, organisers of 2015’s party have said the stage will be repositioned to maximise the view of Sydney Harbour and that the sound quality will be improved.

Harbour Party is on Saturday, February 28. Details and tickets, click here.

  1. I thought Mardi Gras had changed – were not going to spend vast amounts of money on headline acts that only 1/4 of the people can hear anyway (and thereby keeping inflated ticket prices).
