Melbourne gay bar to screen new music TV show weekly

MELBOURNE gay bar The GH Hotel is set to host live screenings of a new music TV program hosted by Jade Leonard.

Leonard is an independent musician who has developed, produced and is the host of The Musician Speaks.

“[The show] is a platform to allow artists to flourish, learn and grow and for us to witness the incredible breadth of their talent and learn more about their artistic processes,” she said.

“With this show I want to put a massive spotlight on talent all around the world.”

Leonard boasts a career in the music industry spanning 20 years, and aims to showcase and get personal with a wide variety of performers across six episodes in the first season.

“I figured that’s the best way to honour these musicians — by getting up close and personal, letting them fully demonstrate their musical skills,” Leonard said.

“We can find out more about the person behind the music this way”.

Leonard believes that this is just the beginning of the journey for her show.

“More of our musicians need to be seen and heard… I feel like I’m contributing in a small way by providing a platform for artists to tell their stories,” she said.

The GH Hotel is hosting weekly screening parties, and will reward the first 50 people through the door each week a free glass of sparkling wine.

The live screenings will extend for six weeks, beginning at the GH Hotel from Monday, March 2 at 6.30pm, which Leonard promises will be “like watching a private concert in your lounge room”.

The Musician Speaks will air weekly beginning Monday, March 2 at 7.30pm on community station C31.
