Club Swizzle comes to Sydney for a romp of camp fun

FROM the creators of La Soiree, Club Swizzle is the unhinged sister show with a cast of eccentric singers, dancers and acrobats, backed by a live band, that will take over a specially built bar in Sydney Opera House’s Studio room.

The host of the new show Murray Hill — who was recently named in OUT magazine’s Top 100 list of influential LGBT people — will be making his Australian premiere in Club Swizzle.

Hill has worked with Joan Rivers, hosted Marc Jacob’s holiday parties, and presented TV shows for E4 and MTV.

Murray’s retro comedy and dapper style has also led to him being the host of choice on the New York burlesque scene, favoured by Dita von Teese and host of the NY International Burlesque Festival.

Another feature of Club Swizzle will be its ever-changing line up of guest stars. First up will be world famous post-post-modern diva Meow Meow for this month’s shows.

Meow’s kamikaze cabaret has entertained at the parties of David Bowie, Pina Bausch and Mikhail Baryshnikov to name just a few.

Last seen in Sydney with her solo work Little Match Girl, Meow has won numerous Green Room Awards, Helpmann Theatre Awards, Sydney Theatre Critics and the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe Prize among others.
