AN electrifying trip to a world of glamour and abandon, a raucous and seductive fusion of disco, dance, burlesque and circus.

Velvet is sensationally entertaining. This trip to boogie wonderland is a gold-plated hit.” The Times, UK.

[showads ad=MREC]Following a five-star, spectacular smash hit season at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe and the sell-out, award-winning season at the 2015 Adelaide Fringe, Sydney gets the chance to let its Young Hearts Run Free at the global theatrical phenomenon that has become Velvet – now showing at the Sydney Opera House.

When a young ingénue (Brendan Maclean) slips behind the red velvet rope at the glamorous nightclub that is Velvet, he encounters dazzling acrobatics, disco divas, seductive chanteuses, beautiful burlesque performers and a hot, pulsating atmosphere. It changes him and empowers him.

The performance follows his seduction and his transformation. Velvet completely redefines cabaret as a Disco Inferno that shocks, surprises and scintillates at every turn.

Velvet is a party, it’s a show, it’s a hedonistic experience for those who remember the world of disco and those who are yet to discover it. Fuelled by disco beats, skilled performers present a dazzling show of combustible energy.

Directed by Smoke & Mirrors’ Craig Ilott, including vocal, dance and acrobatic stars Brendan Maclean, Perle Noire, Stephen Williams, Mirko Köckenberger, Joe Accaria, Emma Goh, Craig Reid, Chaska Halliday, Rechelle Mansour and the legendary diva Marcia Hines.
