Worship at the Chapel

Australian actor Marcus Graham and SBS World News’ popular gay newsreader Anton Enus have been announced as hosts for Fly-On-The-Wall Theatre and Chapel Off Chapel’s Midsumma play-reading event, 4Play.

Graham will conduct proceedings on January 22 presenting a reading of contemporary classic The Fastest Clock in the Universe, written by British artist Phillip Ridley.

The work, which raised eyebrows when it premiered in London, is an edgy and provocative gay drama which centres around the protagonist’s thirtieth birthday.

The South African-born Enus – a newscaster and journalist for 20 years – will appear on January 29, to host a reading of Samuel Adamson’s Southwark Fair.

Enus was a founding member of South Africa’s gay and lesbian sports movement in the early 1980s and was on the organising team that guided the country into the Gay Games for the first time in 1994.

He has also served on committees aimed at reconciling Johannesburg’s multi-cultural gay and lesbian communities and is a keen long-distance runner.  In 1999, Enus migrated to Sydney with Roger Henning, his partner of 16 years. The pair became Australian citizens in July 2002.

Tickets for both events can be purchased at the box office prior to the readings or by calling 03 8290 7000.
