Bake-off raises more than $30,000

The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation raised a grand total of $30,377 in donations at Sunday’s Bake-Off event, with the proceeds going towards improving the quality of life of those living with HIV.

“We were really delighted that people found our Bake-Off an entertaining and tempting afternoon. Once again the community showed their creativity with an amazing assortment of cakes, preserves and slices. The Best in Show was won by David Faulkner (pictured) with his Maple Pecan Cake, who also won The Best Cake category,” BGF President Martin Walsh said.

This year’s circus theme proved popular with some fabulous entries such as Gateau du Cirque by Evelyn Perusco, Curtain Call cup cakes by Lolli Davids, Big Top Tart by John Hackett and Anya the Amazing Bearded Lady and her Muscle Midget Man Munroe! by Sparkles Warland.

Slide reached capacity, with 350 people attending. They were entertained by Verushka Darling hosting the event along with performances by El’Circo, pole dancing, hoola hooping, a juggling act, opera singer Brad Cooper with pianist Ambre Hammond and fabulous songs by Drag Queens BangBangLaBang, Joyce Maynge along with a number of other fantastic drag queen performances. The auction was a real winner with The Swans box and Royal Randwick prizes raising $4150.
