Midsumma meet
Midsumma will hold an Arts and Event Development Forum at Hares and Hyenas (63 Johnston St, Fitzroy) this Sunday, July 31 from 11.30am.
A new addition to the event registration process, the forum will allow event producers and artists the chance to access Midsumma staff and industry professionals about registering an event with the festival.
The day will have a casual format where attendees can leave and come back for sessions — which range from grant-writing to marketing and publicity — they are interested in.
Midsumma general manager Adam Lowe is assisting a steering group doing the groundwork for the proposed Auckland Pride Festival.
Lowe, who is in New Zealand planning the Rugby World Cup opening ceremony, last week addressed volunteers at their first meeting, speaking about the success and future of Midsumma.
As the regional director of InterPride, Lowe has asked the international body to send models for Pride festivals around the world to the Auckland Pride steering group to aid its development.
