Mob for rights
A flash mob promoting gay rights has been planned for this Saturday, May 28, at Southern Cross Railway Station.
Called a ‘Rainbow Freeze’, organisers are trying to assemble as many people as possible to create a massive multi-coloured freeze frame inspired by a recent flash mob at New York’s Grand Central Station.
The plan is to team up pairs of the same sex wearing red, orange, yellow, green, blue or purple shirts, who will hold hands and freeze for five minutes (mid-speech, phone call, meal, etc) right across the station at 3pm.
After the five minutes are complete, each pair will leave behind a coloured ribbon representing gay rights and then walk off into the crowd.
Organisers are asking participants to round up as many friends and family as possible to participate to ensure a big impact on the day.
An after-party will be held at Neverwhere in Collingwood for all involved.
It follows a similarly-themed flash mob at Southern Cross Station on May 17, which took place to mark the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) and Transphobia.
