Bentstix take to the water

The Bentstix need your help to defend their title at the next world pink hockey tournament.

The hockey club will hold a cruise on Saturday February 7 to raise funds to send a team to the World Outgames in Copenhagen where they will defend their world title against the Dutch.

In 2002 the Dutch stole victory from our local boys, right here at the Sydney Gay Games. This mortifying blow spurred the Bentstix boys to get their revenge on Dutch soil in 2005 and now the time has come to defend their title.

The Bentstix have named their fundraiser the Viking and Princess cruise, a reference to Denmark’s Scandinavian heritage and to the country’s Australian-born Princess Mary.

The main thing is we’re going to give them a good time, club social organiser Danny Caretti said.

Caretti has secured DJ Stephen Simpson for the entertainment, and is looking for another performer to come on board with the event.

There is also a fundraising jelly wrestling night planned for April where the Bentstix will size up against the Convicts in one messy night.
