Campaign for Chaz

The Melbourne Queer Film Festival (MQFF) has announced a campaign to encourage Chaz Bono to come to Melbourne next year.

MQFF will screen Becoming Chaz, the feature-length doco telling the story of Bono’s transition from a woman to a man as part of the 2012 line-up.

Directed by queer cinema luminaries Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato (The Eyes of Tammy Faye, 101 Rent Boys), Becoming Chaz will be one of the headline screenings at MQFF. The organisation has pledged to “pull out all guns” in its ‘Bring Chaz to Melbourne’ campaign.

Born Chastity to pop diva Cher and Sonny Bono, Chaz recently wowed US audiences as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. The 22nd Melbourne Queer Film Festival runs March 15 – 25.
