Katy Perry joins an extremely elite club this week by notching up her 4th consecutive US number one hit from Teenage Dream.

That launches the 26-year-old into the Mariah/Whitney stratosphere of pop superstardom and ends Lady Gaga’s six-week reign on top.

“I am so thrilled that E.T. has landed at No. 1,” Katy told Billboard.com.

“I want to thank all the fans who contributed to this amazing feat and radio, which has been an essential part of my continued existence.”

“I truly appreciate all the support of my creative twists and turns.”

Teenage Dream is now only the 9th album in history to spawn four number ones.

A large part of her latest chart topper’s success is the hype surrounding the big-budget video.
