Kermit sings for marriage equality

Wedding.mtmAlthough this is not an official Jim Henson Company or Disney endorsement from the Muppets, we still find it quite cute and amusing. Sung in a Kermit voice performer Hersh Rephun has covered the 1979 muppet classic ‘Rainbow Connection’ with a few lyrical adjustments.

The original owners and creators of The Muppets, The Jim Henson Company, are globally known as avid supporters of equality, as we saw last year when they severed their relationship with American fast food company Chick-Fil-A, who announced they were against marriage equality.

In the parody song Kermit (Rephun) sings: “Weddings or nightmares, people want them so who cares if it’s two girls or two guys?”

“Either way marriage itself is a challenge, I failed at two, almost three. Someday we’ll all get a Rainbow Connection and all get divorced probably.”
