Conn gets behind the Convicts

Rugby League hunk Daniel Conn (pictured) is just one of many celebrities, gay and straight, who have signed on to support the Sydney Convicts in their bid to host the 2012 Bingham World Cup.

The Sydney Roosters player (and Gods Of Football model) appears in the Convicts’ Bingham Cup 2012 bid video alongside Matthew Mitcham and World Cup winners John Eales and Peter Fitzsimons. If the bid is successful, the Bingham Cup would see Sydney play host to over 1000 gay rugby players from around the world.

“We’ve received some great support for the bid from some of Australia’s best known athletes and rugby players,” Bingham Cup 2012 bid committee head Andrew Purchas said.

“Now we need everyone to get behind the bid for the Bingham Cup 2012 by either supporting the page on Facebook or joining us on Twitter.

“Manchester is receiving significant support from the UK community for their bid, so if you want to see rugby players from around the world come to Sydney then we need everyone to take a few seconds today to support the bid on Facebook or Twitter.

“We’ve received endorsements from some of Australia’s greatest rugby players but also from Daniel Conn, who plays for the Sydney Roosters. We hope his endorsement in the video shows the wide acceptance of diversity … and of course it doesn’t hurt to have such a good looking Aussie bloke in our bid video.”
