Farewelling our athletes

With the Cologne Gay Games a little over six weeks away, Sydney’s gay and lesbian sporting teams are starting to announce the details of their farewell parties — a chance for a bit of socialising in among all those gruelling last-minute training sessions.
First cab off the rank is Tennis Sydney, which will hold farewell drinks at the Taxi Club, 40 Flinders St, Darlinghurst, 5.30pm-7.30pm on Sunday, June 6.
To wish the club’s members every success in Cologne, and to provide an opportunity for members travelling to Germany to meet fellow participants, the Tennis Sydney committee invites members, their partners and friends for farewell drinks.
Come along and say “Auf wiedersehen and viel gluck” to participants, supporters and volunteers before the team from Tennis Sydney joins some 10,000 sportspeople from all over the world to gather in Cologne, Germany, to participate in the Gay Games VIII.
Incidentally, if you would like to participate in this year’s Gay Games, there is still time to register. But be quick, because registrations close on May 31.
